Job Summary

The Recovery Officer will be responsible for managing and coordinating loan recovery activities for non-performing loans and written-off loans within assigned FINCA Uganda branches and service centres.
The role involves conducting field visits, negotiating repayment plans, monitoring delinquent accounts, coordinating with recovery agents, supporting legal recovery processes, and ensuring compliance with FINCA Uganda policies and regulatory requirements.
The ideal candidate should have experience in credit management, loan recovery, collections, microfinance operations, customer relationship management, and credit risk control.

Key Responsibilities

1. Loan Recovery and Collections Management
The Recovery Officer will:
  • Monitor and coordinate recovery activities for active and written-off loans.
  • Conduct daily field visits to customers with overdue loans.
  • Follow up on delinquent loan accounts.
  • Negotiate repayment arrangements with customers.
  • Secure commitments and promises to pay.
  • Achieve assigned loan recovery targets.
  • Reduce financial losses caused by overdue credit facilities.
2. Credit Risk Management and Compliance

5. Debt Collection and Legal Recovery Support
The Recovery Officer will:

  • Coordinate allocation of bad loans to external debt collectors.
  • Work with court bailiffs where necessary.
  • Ensure proper approvals are obtained before legal recovery actions.
  • Ensure court bailiffs receive official instructions.
6. Collateral Management and Liquidation Support
Responsibilities include:
  • Support recovery through collateral processes.
  • Guide branches and recovery agents on foreclosure procedures.
  • Ensure proper procedures are followed during collateral liquidation.
  • Monitor recovery activities involving customer securities.
7. Reporting and Documentation
The successful candidate will:
  • Update field collection tools daily.
  • Maintain accurate recovery records.

  • Ensure recovered funds are properly recorded and reconciled.
8. Staff Training and Support
