Project Coordinator (Sudan Witness Project)

Company: Centre for Information Resilience (CIR)
Project: Sudan Witness
Location: Kampala, Uganda
Contract Type: Contractor
Contract Length: ASAP until March 31, 2027 (with possibility of extension dependent on funding)
Commitment: Average of 15–18 working weekdays per month (including expected time off)
Closing Date: August 5, 2026, at 23:55 PM
About the Organisation & Role
The Centre for Information Resilience (CIR) is a UK-based non-profit organisation that uses open-source investigations to counter disinformation, expose human rights abuses and war crimes, and combat online harms targeting women and minorities.
Under the Sudan Witness project—which actively monitors, documents, and verifies human rights interferences, infrastructure damage, and conflict dynamics arising from the conflict in Sudan—CIR is seeking a detail-driven Project Coordinator. Based in Kampala, you will assist the Project Director and Project Manager in the administrative management of the project to meet deadlines, increase operational efficiencies, and ensure full donor compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Project Coordination, Delivery & Grant Management
  • Assist the Project Manager in developing project plans, defining deliverables, and refining quality assurance procedures.
  • Track project progress, rapidly identifying and escalating any issues impeding delivery.
  • Support Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) activities by collecting MEL data, managing surveys, and tracking outputs.
  • Manage group calendars, team meetings, travel movements, and online storage systems.
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager to generate spending reports, budget forecasts, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Facilitate onboarding processes (reference checks, contracts, policy adherence, template distribution).
  • Support grant management for external civil society organisations, including tracking grant outputs, reviewing budgets, spend reports, invoices, and narrative reports.
  • Foster conflict-sensitive, supportive relationships with external partners and translate project outputs between English and Arabic as needed.
General Administrative Support
  • Track project members' timesheets and expenses, ensuring correct monthly submissions and updating organisational spreadsheets.
  • Assist in planning travel logistics, including flights and hotel reservations.
Liaison and Events
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for suppliers and vendors, assisting CIR staff during team trips.
  • Manage the setup of workshops, conferences, and capacity-strengthening events for NGO partners and project participants.
Requirements & Qualifications
Required Qualifications & Skills
  • Fluency in English.
  • Demonstrable professional experience in project coordination and grant management (or related roles).
  • Experience (voluntary or professional) in the human rights, development, peacebuilding, humanitarian, or charity sector.
  • Excellent organisational, time-management, problem-solving, and written communication skills.
  • Experience in planning workshops, events, and managing logistical arrangements.
Highly Desired Qualifications & Skills
  • Understanding of open-source research and geopolitical issues.
  • Experience working with multi-stakeholders, including development partners, government agencies, and civil society organisations.
  • Experience or familiarity related to Sudan.
  • Arabic language skills.
