Key Position Details

  • Job Summary: To provide high-quality, evidence-based medical care through accurate diagnosis, effective treatment, and prevention of diseases, while ensuring a positive patient experience in line with hospital standards, protocols, and ethical practices.
  • Work Schedule / Setting: Inpatient and outpatient clinical settings
Role Summary & Core Duties
The incumbent serves as a Medical Officer delivering comprehensive healthcare services across the hospital facilities.
  • Clinical Care: Examine, diagnose, and treat patients in outpatient and inpatient settings, prescribe medications and therapies, perform medical procedures within scope, and monitor patient progress.
  • Patient Management: Admit, review, and discharge patients appropriately while maintaining accurate medical records and clear documentation.
  • Emergency Response: Provide urgent and emergency care, stabilize critically ill patients, and coordinate referrals when necessary.
  • Collaboration & Education: Work closely with nurses, specialists, pharmacists, and laboratory teams during ward rounds, while educating patients and families on diagnosis, treatment plans, and preventive care.
  • Compliance & Patient Experience: Adhere strictly to hospital policies, clinical protocols, confidentiality guidelines, and deliver compassionate, respectful, patient-centered care.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
  • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) or equivalent.
Licensing & Certification
  • Valid practicing license from the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council (UMDPC).
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS); Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is an added advantage.
Experience
  • Minimum of one (1) year’s clinical post internship experience (preferred).
