Job Summary
Lubaga Hospital is seeking a compassionate, experienced, and dynamic Medical Officer to join its clinical team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive patient care, including diagnosis, treatment, emergency care, ward management, and outpatient services. The role requires adherence to clinical guidelines, hospital protocols, and national health standards while ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities
Patient Examination & Clinical Management
The Medical Officer will examine, diagnose, and manage patients according to established clinical guidelines. This includes developing appropriate treatment plans, prescribing medications, and ensuring effective patient care.
Emergency & Routine Care
Provide both emergency and routine medical services to patients, ensuring timely intervention and appropriate clinical decision-making in all cases.
Patient Records & Documentation
Maintain accurate, complete, and timely medical records for all patients in line with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
Team Collaboration
Work closely with nurses, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and high-quality patient care across all departments.
Health Education & Patient Support
Educate patients and their families on disease prevention, treatment adherence, and healthy lifestyle practices to improve overall health outcomes.
Clinical Governance & Quality Improvement
Participate in clinical audits, continuous medical education, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance healthcare service delivery.
Professional Standards Compliance
Adhere strictly to medical ethics, professional standards, and regulatory guidelines as set by the Medical and Dental Practitioners Council and hospital policies.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB)
  • Valid registration and practicing license with the Medical and Dental Practitioners Council

Experience
  • Minimum of 1 year clinical experience in a healthcare setting
  • Experience in outpatient and inpatient management is an added advantage

Skills and Competencies
The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong clinical judgment, diagnostic ability, and patient management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
The candidate must be compassionate, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centered healthcare services.
