At the core of its operations is the VENN Department, which integrates data science, technology, and field implementation to support evidence-based decision-making across all programs.

Position Overview

Raising The Village is seeking a highly analytical and research-driven Data Analyst – Pilots and Innovations to support its innovation and pilot program portfolio.
This role focuses on generating evidence that informs strategic decisions on whether new interventions should be scaled, adapted, or discontinued. The analyst will work closely with program teams to transform raw data into meaningful insights that guide real-world poverty alleviation strategies.
The ideal candidate is highly curious, detail-oriented, and passionate about using data to solve complex development challenges.

Key Responsibilities

1. Pilot Design, Monitoring & Evaluation
  • Support the design of pilot projects and innovation initiatives
  • Develop theories of change, indicators, and measurement frameworks
  • Design evaluation methodologies for experimental and quasi-experimental studies
  • Support post-pilot assessments and scale-up recommendations
  • Contribute to learning agendas and impact measurement systems
2. Data Analysis & Insight Generation
  • Analyse quantitative and qualitative datasets from field and pilot programs
  • Identify trends, risks, opportunities, and program performance drivers
  • Develop dashboards, reports, and decision-support tools
  • Translate complex analysis into clear, actionable insights
  • Produce rapid analytical briefs for leadership decision-making
3. Research & Evidence Building
  • Conduct literature reviews and benchmarking studies
  • Stay updated on global best practices in poverty alleviation and innovation
  • Synthesize evidence from multiple data sources
  • Support design of new interventions using data-backed insights
4. Knowledge Management & Collaboration
  • Document pilot methodologies, findings, and lessons learned
  • Maintain structured data repositories and knowledge systems
  • Collaborate with program, implementation, and design teams
  • Support cross-functional learning and decision-making processes

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Data Science, Quantitative Economics, Monitoring & Evaluation, or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in data analysis, research, or program evaluation
  • Experience working with development programs or research-based projects
  • Strong ability to communicate insights to both technical and non-technical audiences

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in R, Python, STATA, or advanced Excel
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker Studio
  • Knowledge of survey tools such as KoboToolbox, ODK, SurveyCTO, or CommCare
  • Strong understanding of data cleaning, validation, and management processes
  • Familiarity with experimental and quasi-experimental evaluation methods
  • Ability to integrate qualitative and quantitative data analysis
