Job Summary

MSI Reproductive Choices is seeking an experienced and visionary Country Director to provide strategic leadership and oversee all operations in Uganda. As the organization's most senior representative in the country, the Country Director will lead programme implementation, financial management, operational excellence, stakeholder engagement, and organizational growth while ensuring that clients remain at the centre of every decision.
The successful candidate will work closely with government institutions, donors, development partners, and the Board to strengthen family planning and sexual and reproductive health programmes, drive sustainable impact, and achieve MSI's strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership
  • Develop and implement the country strategy aligned with MSI's global vision.
  • Lead organizational planning and strategic decision-making.
  • Drive innovation and continuous organizational improvement.
  • Ensure delivery of sustainable sexual and reproductive health programmes.
  • Promote client-centred service delivery across all operations.
Programme Management
  • Oversee implementation of family planning programmes.
  • Lead mobile outreach services and community interventions.
  • Strengthen public sector partnerships.
  • Support social marketing initiatives.
  • Supervise maternity services and health centres.
  • Ensure programme quality, effectiveness, and impact.
Financial Management
  • Lead organizational budgeting and financial planning.
  • Manage overall financial performance and sustainability.
  • Ensure efficient allocation of organizational resources.
  • Strengthen financial governance and internal controls.
  • Monitor organizational performance against strategic objectives.
  • Support long-term financial growth.
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Build strong relationships with government ministries and agencies.
  • Engage donors and international development partners.
  • Represent MSI at national and international forums.
  • Strengthen partnerships with regulators and healthcare stakeholders.
  • Influence policies supporting reproductive health services.
Leadership and People Management
  • Lead and inspire multidisciplinary teams.
  • Develop leadership capacity across the organization.
  • Promote accountability and high performance.
  • Build an inclusive and collaborative workplace culture.
  • Support employee development and succession planning.
Governance and Compliance
  • Serve as the principal management liaison with the Board.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and legal requirements.

  • Ensure safeguarding and ethical standards are maintained.
Organizational Transformation
  • Lead organizational change initiatives.

Required Qualifications

Applicants should possess:
  • Relevant postgraduate qualification such as an MBA, Master of Public Health (MPH), or equivalent.
  • Minimum five years of executive-level leadership experience.
  • Extensive experience managing complex organizations or business units.
  • Demonstrated financial management and governance experience.
  • Proven experience engaging governments, donors, development partners, and Boards.
  • Strong strategic planning and organizational leadership skills.
  • Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.
