Kijani Forestry is seeking a dedicated Branch Coordinator to oversee branch operations in Gulu. The successful candidate will supervise Parish Coordinators, coordinate field activities, validate operational data, manage branch resources, engage farming communities, and ensure the successful implementation of Kijani Forestry programmes.

Job Summary

The Branch Coordinator will provide leadership, technical guidance, logistical support, and operational oversight for Parish Coordinators within the assigned branch.
Working closely with the Area Coordinator, the successful candidate will ensure effective programme implementation, monitor field activities, validate operational data, coordinate farmer contract management, oversee inventory, strengthen community partnerships, and maintain compliance with organisational standards.
The ideal candidate should possess strong leadership skills, supervisory experience, excellent communication abilities, and the capacity to manage field operations in rural communities.

Key Responsibilities

Supervision of Parish Coordinators
  • Supervise and support Parish Coordinators to ensure programme objectives are achieved.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one coaching and performance reviews.
  • Monitor field activities through regular visits.
  • Identify operational challenges and implement practical solutions.
  • Recommend improvements based on field observations.
Technical Support
  • Provide technical guidance on tree nursery establishment.
  • Support seedling production and plantation management activities.
  • Train Parish Coordinators on forestry best practices.
  • Resolve technical field challenges affecting programme implementation.
Logistical Coordination
  • Coordinate distribution of seedlings, tools, materials, and other field resources.
  • Ensure adequate supplies are available for nursery and plantation activities.
  • Work with the Area Coordinator to resolve logistical challenges.
  • Support efficient implementation of field programmes.
Staff Welfare and Team Support
  • Address welfare concerns raised by Parish Coordinators.
  • Promote teamwork and a positive working environment.
  • Advocate for staff welfare and operational support.
  • Support employee motivation and performance improvement.
Data Validation and Quality Assurance
  • Validate field data collected by Parish Coordinators.
  • Verify farmer registrations, nursery records, seedling production, and tree planting information.
  • Ensure proper utilisation of the Kijani App for reporting.
  • Monitor data accuracy and integrity.
Farmer Contract Management
  • Present partnership contracts to farmers.
  • Explain programme benefits and contractual obligations.
  • Facilitate contract signing processes.
  • Maintain proper documentation of farmer agreements.
Inventory and Store Management
  • Manage branch inventory of tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Conduct regular stock-taking exercises.
  • Monitor resource utilisation and accountability.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Recommend replenishment of supplies.
Documentation and Reporting
  • Maintain comprehensive records of branch activities.
  • Prepare timely operational reports.
  • Manage digital reporting using the Kijani App.
  • Ensure accountability for distributed resources.
Community Engagement
  • Build relationships with local leaders and community stakeholders.
  • Organise community meetings to promote Kijani Forestry programmes.
  • Represent the organisation during community engagements.
  • Strengthen farmer participation and collaboration.
Internship Programme Management
  • Identify suitable internship candidates from local communities.
  • Conduct preliminary assessments of applicants.
  • Coordinate recruitment with the Area Coordinator.
  • Support intern training and development.
  • Monitor intern performance.
Health, Safety and Environmental Compliance
  • Promote workplace health and safety during field operations.
  • Ensure proper use of protective equipment.
  • Encourage sustainable forestry and environmental conservation practices.

  • Promote soil conservation, water management, and biodiversity protection.

Required Qualifications and Skills

Certificate, Diploma or Degree
