UGANDA WILDLIFE AUTHORITY (UWA) – JOB OPPORTUNITY

The Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) is a semi-autonomous government agency operating under the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities. Established in 1996, UWA operates in line with the Wildlife Act Cap 200 and continues under the Uganda Wildlife Act, 2020.

“To conserve, economically develop, and sustainably manage Uganda’s wildlife and protected areas in partnership with neighboring communities and stakeholders for the benefit of the people of Uganda and the global community.”

JOB PURPOSE

The Administrative Assistant / Personal Secretary will provide administrative, clerical, and secretarial support to Departments and Conservation Areas to ensure smooth office operations and effective coordination of activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain organized and efficient filing systems within Departments and Conservation Areas.
  • Coordinate and manage the day-to-day administrative operations of assigned Departments or Units.
  • Handle communication and correspondence between departments and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare minutes, reports, official correspondences, and departmental documentation.
  • Respond to telephone calls and email inquiries, providing information or directing communication to the appropriate offices.
  • Receive and attend to official visitors and walk-in clients while directing them appropriately based on the nature of their inquiries.
  • Receive, sort, record, and distribute incoming correspondences and official documents to relevant offices.
  • Manage and maintain the Supervisor’s diary, schedules, and appointments.
  • Prepare departmental work plans and submit periodic reports as required.
  • Supervise and appraise support staff under the department.

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS

Qualifications
Applicants must possess an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following fields from a recognized university:
  • Secretarial Studies
  • Business and Office Management
  • Office and Information Management
  • Administrative and Secretarial Science
  • Administrative and Secretarial Studies
Experience
  • No working experience is required.
