On behalf of our client, Namekara Mining Company Ltd, we are looking for a competent, skilled, and experienced AUTO ELECTRICIAN to work in Manafwa, Eastern Uganda.
A mine located in Manafwa District, Eastern Uganda seeks to engage the services of an experienced hands-on Auto Electrician who installs, inspects, maintains, and repairs all electrical parts of all mine automotive vehicles including haulage and mining equipment. The successful candidate will work with the garage team of mechanics, assistant mechanics/auto electrician, drivers, and machine operators.
JOB FUNCTIONS
Perform preventive maintenance inspections, diagnosis, and repair, including emergency field maintenance repairs, of electronically powered gasoline, diesel, and light and heavy vehicles, forklifts, ore and waste haulage trucks, dozers, wheel loaders, excavators, 500Kva and 150Kva standby generators, and compressors per company policy.
Design and communicate workshop repair work plans and assign work to assistants in line with communicated work plans.
Perform specialized work on equipment on an as-needed basis.
Read, analyse, and interpret technical drawings.
Identify and diagnose issues with vehicular equipment electrical systems.
Propose repairs based on diagnosis of vehicular equipment electrical systems.
Service, repair, and replace/install vehicular equipment wiring systems.
Service, repair, and replace faulty or damaged electrical components and parts.
Test vehicular equipment lighting systems.
Use various digital diagnostic equipment and power tools to identify faults and perform repairs.
Repair and maintain the company fleet of vehicles, trucks, and equipment to support mining and production operations and report to the Garage Supervisor and/or Engineering Superintendent.
Ensure workshop turnaround targets are met.
Identify and solve auto electrical problems and maintain high work standards.
Maintain a safe work environment, housekeeping, and safety on machines.
PERFORMANCE AND WORK REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge of Toyota vans and pickups, Hyster and Heli forklifts, Sino haulage tipper trucks, SEM 655D wheel loader, Sany SY335 excavator, CAT 330CL excavator, CAT D6H dozer, 500Kva Teksan generator or similar equipment is desirable.
Knowledge of and care and maintenance of batteries, starters, starter relays and switches, alternators, fuel injection systems, fuel solenoid valves, electronic control modules, display monitors, accelerograph motors, cam sensors, crank speed sensors, heating systems, ignition systems, lighting systems, air conditioning systems, alarm systems, anti-theft systems, anti-lock brakes, circuit boards, diagnostic lights, instruments including odometers, fuel level gauges, fuel tank sensor units, pressure gauges and sensors, radios, transmissions, and tools associated with troubleshooting and repairs.
Ability to pay attention to detail as work involves complex wiring, small components, and colours that are extremely similar.
Ability to accurately perform preventive maintenance to fleet vehicles and equipment, identify component failures, diagnose and troubleshoot vehicle and equipment electrical systems, and produce quality repairs.
Ability to document and analyse all vehicle and equipment electrical repair and inspection information.
Ability to perform inventory management and order parts and supplies as needed.
Ability to read and understand technical service manuals, repair orders, labels, and gauges.
Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
Ability to promptly communicate with supervisors regarding equipment flaws and work effectively with truck drivers, heavy equipment operators, and other employees.
Ability to work independently with little to no supervision.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
High school graduation or satisfactory equivalent supplemented by specialized training in auto electrics with a particular focus on electronic engineering technology.
Completion of a recognized apprenticeship or possession of auto electrician certifications from a professionally recognized institution and extensive knowledge of modern vehicular equipment electrical systems is highly desirable.
At least three years of previous fleet experience as a qualified Auto Electrician.
Previous experience working in a similar environment with similar equipment is preferred.
Demonstrable knowledge of auto electrical systems including modern vehicular equipment electrical and electronic systems.
Bilingual, with English being one of the spoken and written languages.
Physically fit to perform physically demanding work.
