 JOB SUMMARY
Britam Uganda is recruiting a professional to support Portfolio Administration, Valuation, Reporting, and Performance Measurement within Britam Asset Managers. The role covers Unit Trust Funds, Wealth Management Funds, Retail Pension schemes, and Discretionary Client portfolios. The successful candidate will ensure accurate fund valuation, portfolio reporting, compliance, and operational integrity across investment products while supporting high-quality financial services delivery.
This is a core asset management operations role focused on ensuring precision in fund accounting, investment reporting, regulatory compliance, and client servicing.
 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
 Portfolio Administration & Valuation Support
Review and post portfolio income entries, support valuation processes, and perform daily valuation activities including pricing, amortization, revaluation, and impairment of securities such as equities, fixed income instruments, indices, and foreign exchange positions. Conduct validation checks to ensure accuracy, completeness, and integrity of fund pricing processes. Monitor end-of-day valuation outputs and ensure all portfolio administration activities are correctly executed.
 Cash & Custody Reconciliations
Perform daily cash and investment reconciliations between custodians and internal records. Investigate, resolve, and escalate reconciliation breaks promptly. Conduct monthly asset holding reconciliations between custodians (banks) and fund managers. Monitor cash positions, investment balances, and settlement activities to ensure accuracy.
 Transaction Processing & Oversight
Oversee recording and settlement of traded securities, corporate actions, and disbursement transactions. Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of all transaction processing activities while maintaining strict adherence to internal controls and procedures.
 Regulatory & Compliance Reporting
Prepare and submit regulatory reports to the Capital Markets Authority (CMA), Retirement Benefits Authority (RBA), trustees, and other stakeholders within required timelines. Produce statutory, client, and management reports accurately and consistently. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal operational policies.
 Client Administration & Servicing
Review and distribute client statements, contract notes, and transaction confirmations. Handle client operational queries and correspondence efficiently while maintaining high service standards and turnaround times to enhance client experience.
 Performance Measurement & Fund Accounting Support
Measure fund performance against benchmarks and support performance reporting. Compute, accrue, and validate management fees, expenses, and fund-related charges. Prepare periodic reports on portfolio holdings, movements, revenue, and performance.
 Regional & Cross-Functional Support
Provide operational support to BAM Uganda under the hub-and-spoke model. Coordinate with custodians, trustees, finance, IT, and client service teams to ensure smooth operations. Support cross-functional initiatives affecting operational delivery.
 Process Improvement & Automation
Participate in system enhancements, user acceptance testing (UAT), and operational improvement projects. Contribute to automation, digitization, and process redesign initiatives aimed at improving efficiency and accuracy.
 Risk Management & Controls
Support operational risk management through reconciliations, reporting accuracy, and transaction controls. Ensure adherence to internal policies, procedures, and regulatory frameworks.
 General Responsibilities
Perform any other duties assigned in support of business and operational objectives.
 KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or related field
  • 4–6 years relevant experience in asset management, investment operations, or administration
  • Professional certification preferred: CPA (Part II or above), ACCA, CFA Level I or above
  • Strong experience in:
    • Fund accounting and valuation processes
    • Reconciliation and transaction management
    • Regulatory and statutory reporting
    • Client servicing in financial services or asset management
  • Experience in a regulated financial environment is essential
  • Exposure to regional or multi-entity operations is an added advantage
