 JOB SUMMARY
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) Uganda is recruiting Community Contact Tracers – EVD (Ebola Virus Disease) to support Ebola prevention and response activities in high-risk districts including Kisoro, Kasese, Nebbi, Arua, and Bundibugyo (Ntoroko and Busunga). The role focuses on community-level risk communication, awareness creation, and behavior change messaging to reduce Ebola transmission and promote early reporting and safe care seeking.
The position plays a key role in strengthening community engagement, disease prevention, and public health awareness through direct interaction with households, markets, transit points, and local leaders.
 KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
 Risk Communication & Community Outreach
Conduct targeted Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) risk communication activities including household visits, community dialogues, market outreach, transit point sensitization, and support for radio messaging. The goal is to raise awareness on Ebola signs and symptoms, prevention measures, safe health-seeking behavior, and anti-stigma messaging.
Information, Education & Communication (IEC) Dissemination
Distribute standardized IEC materials to communities and ensure that health messages are clearly understood and adapted to local language, culture, and context in each assigned district.
 QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
  • Technical or vocational diploma in Social Sciences, Medicine, Health Sciences, Community Health, Public Health, or related field from a recognized institution
  • At least 1 year of professional experience in emergency response, humanitarian health programs, or community-based interventions
  • Experience in planning, implementation, and analysis of health or humanitarian programs is an advantage
  • Experience working with the UN or international organizations is an asset
  • Fluency in English (desirable)
  • Ability to work in assigned local languages is highly valued depending on location:
    • Rufumbira (Kisoro)
    • Rukonjo (Kasese)
    • Alur (Nebbi)
    • Lugbara (Arua)
    • Lubwisi (Bundibugyo)

  • Strong communication, drafting, reporting, and documentation skills
  • Accuracy and professionalism in information dissemination
  • Strong interpersonal and community engagement skills
  • Ability to work with diverse groups including grassroots communities, religious leaders, youth groups, and government authorities
  • Cultural sensitivity and ability to work in multicultural environments
  • Knowledge of communication for development (C4D) approaches
  • Strong computer literacy including MS Office (Word, Excel, email, internet tools)
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines under emergency conditions
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and resilience in challenging environments
  • Strong planning, organization, and self-management skills
  • Interest in humanitarian response, volunteerism, and UN systems
AREA OF EXPERTISE
