COUNTRY MANAGER – UGANDA

JOB SUMMARY
Fargo Courier Limited is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Country Manager to lead and oversee all Uganda operations. The role involves driving national business strategy, expanding logistics and freight forwarding services, ensuring operational excellence, and delivering strong financial performance across air cargo, sea cargo, freight forwarding, customs clearance, warehousing, and last-mile delivery services within Uganda and the East African region.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Country Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing country-level business strategies aligned to regional goals, identifying growth opportunities in logistics, freight forwarding, air cargo operations, sea cargo management, and inland transportation networks. The role includes ensuring compliance with international freight forwarding standards, aviation and shipping regulations, customs procedures, and local Ugandan regulatory frameworks.
The position also involves overseeing daily cargo operations including imports, exports, customs clearance, warehousing management, distribution, and last-mile delivery logistics. The Country Manager will manage full P&L performance, drive profitability, implement cost optimization strategies, and ensure revenue growth across all logistics service lines.
Additional responsibilities include negotiating contracts, service level agreements, and partnerships with clients, airlines, shipping lines, freight agents, transport companies, and logistics vendors. The role requires leadership of cross-functional teams in operations, sales, customer service, finance, supply chain, and administration while ensuring strong performance management and staff development.
The Country Manager will maintain compliance with Ugandan laws, customs regulations, international trade requirements, corporate governance policies, and industry standards. The role also involves building strong stakeholder relationships, enhancing customer acquisition strategies, improving client retention, monitoring financial reporting, and ensuring efficient collections and business performance tracking.
REQUIREMENTS
The ideal candidate must hold a Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Commerce, or a related field. The role requires a minimum of 10 to 15 years of experience in logistics, cargo operations, freight forwarding, shipping, air cargo, or supply chain management. At least 5 years must be in a senior managerial or executive leadership position.
Candidates must demonstrate strong leadership skills, strategic thinking, communication skills, negotiation ability, business development expertise, and proven experience in revenue generation and sales growth. Experience in East African markets including Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, and Rwanda is highly desirable. A strong professional network with airlines, shipping lines, customs authorities, freight partners, and logistics providers is an added advantage.
