Heavy Goods Truck Driver – Africa Global Logistics

• Transport containerized cargo to and from assigned locations.
• Follow designated routes and schedules provided by management.
• Ensure timely and secure delivery of goods.

• Load and unload cargo safely and efficiently.
• Ensure proper securing and protection of cargo during transit.
• Handle and stack containerized cargo correctly.
• Maintain accessibility within container stacks.

• Conduct daily vehicle inspections before and after trips.
• Monitor vehicle performance and report faults to the workshop.
• Ensure proper functioning and safety of trucks and equipment.
• Follow maintenance procedures and safety guidelines.

• Adhere to all traffic laws and road safety regulations.
• Comply with company policies and operational procedures.
• Follow DOT regulations and transport safety requirements.
• Maintain high alertness and safe driving practices at all times.

• Maintain a professional and courteous attitude with clients and colleagues.
• Communicate effectively with dispatch and operations teams.
• Represent the company professionally during deliveries.

• Maintain accurate cargo and delivery records.
• Report equipment issues and operational anomalies promptly.
• Ensure proper documentation of trips and cargo movements.

• Ordinary Certificate of Education (S4) minimum.
• Valid commercial driving license (Category CE).
• Minimum 3 years’ experience driving heavy trucks carrying containerized cargo.
• Experience with:
  • 45ft and 50ft container trucks
  • Flatbed trucks
  • Reefers and chassis

• Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and weight distribution.
• Understanding of road safety regulations and DOT requirements.
• Ability to operate GPS and navigation systems.
• Basic mechanical awareness is an added advantage.

• Ability to lift and move heavy loads (50–100 lbs).
• Ability to climb in and out of trucks repeatedly.
• Capability to sit and drive for long hours.
• Good vision, hearing, and high alertness.
• Ability to work in extreme weather conditions and noisy environments.

• Long working hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Exposure to environmental conditions such as noise, vibrations, fumes, and weather extremes.
• Strict adherence to PPE and safety regulations required at all times.
