Job Overview
The Outlet Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the outlet, ensuring exceptional customer service, achieving sales and profitability targets, maintaining food safety and quality standards, managing outlet staff, safeguarding company assets, and ensuring smooth business operations. The role involves supervising fish handling processes, inventory management, banking activities, customer relations, compliance, and administrative functions to support business growth and operational excellence.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Customer Service & Sales Management
  • Drive customer service excellence in every aspect of the outlet.
  • Ensure proper store appearance, merchandise display, product placement, outlet layout, and selling procedures.
  • Deliver exceptional customer experiences and ensure customer needs are consistently met and exceeded.
  • Meet outlet sales targets through effective staff training, motivation, mentoring, and performance feedback.
  • Develop strategies to attract new customers and increase outlet traffic.
  • Enhance profitability through improved sales performance and customer retention.
  • Build sustainable customer relationships based on trust and open communication.
Point of Sale (POS) & Cash Management
  • Process customer orders and payments using the outlet Point of Sale (POS) system.
  • Handle cash register functions and transactions accurately.
  • Ensure correct pricing and proper receipting of all customer purchases.
  • Manage all outlet banking functions including:
    • Bank deposits.
    • Cash management.
    • Change requirements.
  • Maintain accountability and accuracy in all financial transactions.
Fish Handling, Quality Assurance & Food Safety
  • Enforce proper icing techniques throughout handling and processing to maintain fish freshness.
  • Supervise proper handling of fish products to prevent damage and quality deterioration.
  • Conduct regular quality assurance inspections on fish products.
  • Ensure proper storage, processing, handling, and packing procedures are followed.
  • Maintain compliance with food safety and quality management systems.
  • Ensure all fish products meet company quality standards before sale.
Inventory & Stock Management
  • Monitor inventory levels and ensure stock availability at all times.
  • Place orders for replenishment in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate stock records and inventory controls.
  • Minimize product losses through proper stock management practices.
Team Leadership & Staff Supervision
  • Supervise, train, motivate, and mentor outlet staff.
  • Provide ongoing coaching to improve staff performance.
  • Foster teamwork and maintain a positive working environment.
  • Monitor employee productivity and service delivery standards.
  • Ensure staff adhere to company policies and procedures.
Customer Relationship Management
  • Develop productive and long-term relationships with customers.
  • Handle customer inquiries professionally and efficiently.
  • Ensure customer complaints are investigated and resolved satisfactorily.
  • Follow up on customer concerns to maintain customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Continuously improve customer service processes.
Administrative & Reporting Responsibilities
  • Perform administrative duties to support smooth outlet operations.
  • Prepare and submit operational reports accurately and on time.
  • Ensure timely submission of personnel-related documentation.
  • Maintain proper outlet records and documentation.
  • Support management decision-making through accurate reporting.
Health, Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure strict compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Prioritize health and safety standards across all outlet operations.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory regulations and government policies.
  • Liaise with relevant technical personnel and regulatory authorities when necessary.
  • Conduct regular inspections of:
    • Fridges.
    • Point of Sale (POS) Systems.
    • Generators.
    • Other outlet equipment.
  • Ensure equipment safety, functionality, and maintenance requirements are met.
Asset Protection & Risk Management
  • Bear responsibility for the safe custody of company assets.
  • Protect outlet resources from misuse, theft, or damage.
  • Implement measures to safeguard company property and inventory.
Process Improvement
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve operational processes.
  • Implement efficiency improvements to enhance customer service and productivity.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the outlet.
Required Qualifications
Education
  • Diploma in Business Administration or a related discipline.
Experience
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a retail or bulk trade environment.
  • Experience in outlet operations, customer service, sales supervision, or retail management is highly desirable.

Job Summary and Purpose
The Outlet Assistant is responsible for actively participating in all outlet operations, including stock receipt, weighing, icing, housekeeping, customer order preparation, inventory management, and promoting positive customer relations. The role ensures precision, quality, efficiency, and compliance with food safety, health, and hygiene standards while contributing to sales growth and customer satisfaction.
The successful candidate will support the Outlet Supervisor in maintaining smooth operations, preserving product quality, achieving outlet sales targets, and ensuring excellent customer service delivery.

Sales & Business Growth

Customer Service
  • Deliver excellent customer service in every aspect of outlet operations.

Customer Complaint Handling
  • Follow up customer complaints and concerns.
  • Escalate complex issues to the Outlet Supervisor.
  • Ensure satisfactory solutions are achieved for both customers and Yalelo.
Stock Management & Inventory Control
  • Receive stock deliveries and verify quantities received.
  • Organize and maintain inventory effectively.
  • Ensure fridges remain adequately stocked to meet customer demand.
  • Assist with stock monitoring and inventory control activities.
Fish Handling & Quality Assurance
  • Conduct regular fish quality inspections.
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, processing, and packing of fish products.
  • Enforce proper icing techniques throughout the fish handling process.
  • Act as custodian and enforcer of the Yalelo Uganda Red Stock SOP within the outlet.
Product Knowledge
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of fish products and promotions.
  • Confidently share product information with customers and colleagues.
  • Promote available products and offers effectively.
Customer Order Processing
  • Receive and prepare customer orders accurately.
  • Pack products according to company standards.
  • Capture customer transactions in the Point of Sale (POS) system.
  • Ensure timely order fulfillment.
Cash Handling & Banking Support
  • Assist the Outlet Supervisor with banking sales revenues.
  • Support cash reconciliation processes.

POS Operations
  • Assist in operating the cash register and Point of Sale system.

Housekeeping & Food Safety
  • Maintain outstanding hygiene standards across the outlet.

Administrative Support
  • Perform administrative duties to support outlet operations.
  • Prepare and submit reports in a timely manner.

  • Promote workplace safety awareness.
Equipment Inspection
  • Conduct routine inspections of:
    • Fridges
    • POS Systems
    • Weighing Scales
    • Other outlet equipment
  • Ensure equipment remains safe and functional.
Compliance & SOP Adherence
  • Adhere to Workstream procedures.
  • Follow Retail Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and operational guidelines.
Training & Development
  • Attend scheduled training sessions.
  • Participate in skills enhancement and professional development programs.
  • Apply acquired knowledge to improve job performance.
Other Duties
  • Perform any additional duties assigned by the Outlet Supervisor.

Qualifications

Education
  • Minimum Diploma or equivalent qualification in Business Administration or a related field.
  • Must have obtained at least:
    • Credit in Mathematics at UCE level.
    • Principal Pass in Economics or Entrepreneurship Education at UACE level.
Experience
  • Experience in fish processing, fish handling, retail operations, customer service, or related fields is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of two (2) years' relevant experience is advantageous.
