Job Description

C-Care Uganda – Midwife Job Description (SEO Optimized)
A Midwife at C-Care Uganda is responsible for delivering safe, high-quality, and patient-centered maternal and newborn healthcare services across antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal stages. The role focuses on ensuring safe delivery outcomes, maternal health monitoring, newborn care, and compassionate patient support in line with hospital protocols, clinical guidelines, and ethical standards.
The Midwife provides essential obstetric care services, including monitoring pregnancy progress using clinical tools, conducting normal deliveries, assisting in complicated births, and providing immediate newborn resuscitation when required. The role also involves early identification of high-risk pregnancies and timely escalation to doctors or specialists to ensure patient safety.
In clinical practice, the Midwife performs routine maternal and newborn examinations, administers prescribed medications and treatments, and maintains strict infection prevention and control (IPC) standards. Accurate documentation of patient records, maternity reports, and clinical observations is required to support effective patient management and continuity of care.
A key aspect of the role is patient-centered care and experience management, ensuring mothers receive respectful, dignified, and emotionally supportive care during labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery. The Midwife communicates effectively with patients and families, involving them in care decisions and addressing concerns promptly.
The role also includes health education and promotion, where the Midwife educates mothers on pregnancy care, safe delivery practices, breastfeeding, family planning, and newborn care to promote safe motherhood and child wellbeing.
Working within a multidisciplinary healthcare team, the Midwife collaborates with doctors, nurses, pediatricians, and other health professionals during ward rounds, case reviews, and clinical meetings to ensure integrated care delivery.
Additionally, the Midwife ensures compliance with hospital policies, clinical governance, patient safety standards, and professional nursing ethics, while actively participating in continuous medical education (CME), training, audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
