Job Summary

Fido is seeking a dynamic, strategic, and experienced Business Development Manager to lead the expansion of its digital financial services business in Uganda. The successful candidate will play a critical role in driving growth through product innovation, strategic partnerships, market expansion, business strategy development, and revenue growth initiatives.
The role requires a highly analytical and commercially driven professional capable of identifying market opportunities, building strategic alliances, conducting market research, and supporting the launch and expansion of innovative fintech products and services.

Key Responsibilities

1. Product Innovation & Development
  • Collaborate closely with the Product Team on the development of new products and innovative digital financial solutions.
  • Support execution of the company's product roadmap.
  • Conduct market research to identify customer needs and market opportunities.
  • Gather customer insights and feedback to support product enhancement and innovation.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of customer-centric financial products.
2. Strategic Partnerships Management
  • Identify, establish, and maintain strategic partnerships that support business growth.
  • Develop relationships with banks, fintech companies, mobile network operators, financial institutions, and ecosystem partners.
  • Negotiate partnership agreements and commercial arrangements.
  • Support successful launch and scaling of products through partner collaborations.
3. Relationship Management & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with:
    • Strategic partners
    • Regulatory authorities
    • Government agencies
    • Investors
    • Industry influencers
    • Key stakeholders
  • Represent the organization in meetings, negotiations, conferences, and industry events.
  • Strengthen Fido’s brand visibility within Uganda's financial services ecosystem.
4. Market Intelligence & Business Analysis
  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis.
  • Monitor fintech, banking, digital lending, and financial technology trends.
  • Gather and analyze market intelligence data.
  • Identify new market opportunities and emerging customer needs.
  • Provide data-driven recommendations to support business growth strategies.
5. Business Expansion & Growth
  • Develop and implement growth strategies for existing and new products.
  • Lead initiatives aimed at increasing market penetration and customer acquisition.
  • Drive expansion into new market segments and customer categories.
  • Support fundraising and debt financing initiatives to facilitate company growth.
  • Develop business cases and commercial proposals for expansion projects.
6. Team Leadership & Performance Management
  • Foster a collaborative, innovative, and results-oriented culture.
  • Recruit, mentor, coach, and manage business development team members as required.
  • Set performance objectives and monitor team productivity.
  • Promote continuous learning and professional development.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in:

  • Master’s Degree is an added advantage.
