About the Hospital
St. Mary's Hospital Lacor is a Private Not-for-Profit (PNFP) hospital established in 1959 and located in Gulu, Northern Uganda. The hospital operates a major referral facility together with three Health Centre III units located in Amuru, Opit, and Pabo. The institution is committed to providing quality healthcare services and is recognized as one of Uganda’s leading faith-based healthcare providers.
The hospital is seeking experienced and qualified professionals to fill the following positions:
  • Physician
  • Paediatrician
  • Physiotherapist

Job Description

Position Summary
The successful candidate will be an experienced healthcare professional with strong clinical expertise and sound managerial abilities capable of leading a department within a high-volume hospital environment. The role involves providing quality patient care, supervising healthcare teams, supporting hospital programs, and contributing to the continuous improvement of healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Service Delivery
  • Provide specialized medical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care.
  • Ensure delivery of quality, evidence-based healthcare services.
  • Participate in patient management and multidisciplinary care.
  • Monitor patient outcomes and implement appropriate interventions.
Departmental Leadership
  • Manage and coordinate departmental activities.
  • Supervise and mentor junior medical and allied health staff.
  • Support capacity building and professional development initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with professional standards and hospital policies.
Quality Assurance & Patient Safety
  • Promote quality improvement initiatives within the department.
  • Ensure adherence to clinical guidelines and protocols.
  • Participate in audits, reviews, and patient safety programs.
  • Monitor service performance and recommend improvements.
Hospital Administration
  • Prepare departmental reports and work plans.
  • Support resource planning and utilization.
  • Participate in hospital committees and strategic initiatives.
  • Contribute to policy development and implementation.
Research & Training
  • Participate in clinical research and continuing medical education.
  • Support training of interns, students, and healthcare professionals.
  • Contribute to knowledge sharing and professional learning activities.

Required Qualifications

Physician
  • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB).
  • Postgraduate qualification in Internal Medicine or related specialty.
  • Registration with the relevant professional council.
Paediatrician
  • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB).
  • Master's Degree or postgraduate qualification in Paediatrics.
  • Valid professional registration and practicing license.
Physiotherapist
  • Bachelor's Degree in Physiotherapy or related field.
  • Registration with the relevant professional body.
  • Valid practicing license.

Experience Requirements

  • Relevant clinical experience in a hospital setting.
  • Demonstrated leadership and departmental management skills.
  • Experience working in a high-volume healthcare environment.
  • Strong commitment to quality healthcare service delivery.
