GrowthAfrica – Programme Lead

About the Role
The Programme Lead is responsible for the day-to-day execution and successful delivery of all programme activities within the assigned country. The role requires a highly experienced programme management professional who will dedicate the majority of their time to hands-on programme implementation, stakeholder engagement, team leadership, and ecosystem development.
The Programme Lead serves as the primary representative of GrowthAfrica within the local startup and innovation ecosystem, ensuring programme targets are achieved while supporting women entrepreneurs and driving measurable impact across entrepreneurship development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Programme Planning & Delivery
  • Translate the master programme strategy into a country operational plan with clear milestones and deliverables.
  • Manage programme implementation and ensure delivery against agreed timelines and targets.
  • Monitor programme performance and continuously improve implementation processes.
  • Ensure programme quality standards are maintained throughout all activities.
Entrepreneur & Participant Management
  • Oversee the complete participant journey from recruitment and outreach to incubation and acceleration.
  • Design and implement strategies to identify and engage women entrepreneurs.
  • Support outreach activities targeting rural, peri-urban, and underserved communities.
  • Monitor participant progress and programme outcomes.
Facilitation & Capacity Building
  • Facilitate or co-facilitate entrepreneurship training workshops, coaching sessions, and business development activities.
  • Deliver high-quality learning experiences for programme participants.
  • Support entrepreneur growth through mentorship and ecosystem linkages.
Team Leadership & Management
  • Lead and supervise the country programme team.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and coaching sessions.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and high performance.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and induction of new team members.
Stakeholder Engagement & Partnerships
  • Build and maintain relationships with:
    • Startup founders
    • Innovation hubs
    • Accelerators
    • Investors
    • Government agencies
    • Development partners
    • Entrepreneur support organizations
  • Represent GrowthAfrica at ecosystem events and stakeholder engagements.
  • Develop strategic partnerships that strengthen programme delivery and impact.
Compliance, Governance & Reporting
  • Ensure compliance with donor requirements, safeguarding policies, and grant management procedures.
  • Monitor programme risks and implement mitigation measures.
  • Prepare weekly, quarterly, and annual programme reports.
  • Contribute programme data, success stories, and impact reports.
Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in:

Experience Requirements

About the Role
The Programme Associate serves as the operational backbone of the country team, ensuring the smooth implementation of entrepreneurship and business development programmes. The role is responsible for coordinating programme logistics, participant management, data collection, operational support, stakeholder engagement, and administrative functions that contribute to successful programme delivery.
The Programme Associate plays an active role in identifying and supporting women entrepreneurs, particularly in rural and peri-urban communities, while ensuring an outstanding participant experience throughout the programme lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
Programme Coordination & Operations
  • Provide logistical and administrative support for programme activities.
  • Coordinate workshops, training sessions, meetings, and events.
  • Manage travel arrangements, accommodation bookings, venues, and participant communications.
  • Ensure smooth execution of all programme activities.
Entrepreneur Outreach & Participant Management
  • Support identification and mapping of women entrepreneurs in rural and peri-urban communities.
  • Conduct ecosystem research and stakeholder mapping.
  • Manage participant outreach, recruitment, registration, and application processes.
  • Maintain participant engagement throughout programme implementation.
Data Collection & Monitoring
  • Coordinate collection of programme and participant data.

  • Support monitoring, evaluation, learning, and reporting requirements.
  • Maintain participant databases and programme records.
Safeguarding & Compliance
  • Serve as the country safeguarding focal point during participant-facing activities.

  • Ensure compliance with programme guidelines and safeguarding standards.
Financial & Administrative Support
  • Manage petty cash and activity-related expenditures.
  • Support expense claim processing and retirement documentation.
  • Coordinate with finance teams on programme expenditure tracking.
  • Maintain accurate administrative and financial records.
Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain organized programme files and stakeholder databases.
  • Update partner and participant records.
  • Support preparation of programme reports, updates, and activity plans.
  • Assist the Programme Lead and broader delivery team during peak periods.
