Senior School Support Officer – PEAS Uganda
Job Summary
PEAS Uganda is seeking a Senior School Support Officer to provide hands-on support to secondary schools and improve teaching, leadership, and overall school performance.
The role focuses on working closely with school leaders and teachers to strengthen school governance, improve learning outcomes, and ensure consistent delivery of quality education aligned with PEAS standards and mission.
This is a field-based role requiring frequent travel and direct engagement with rural schools.
Key Responsibilities
1. School Performance Improvement
  • Provide direct support to assigned schools to improve academic and operational performance.
  • Work with school leadership to identify performance gaps and implement improvement plans.
  • Monitor school progress and ensure compliance with PEAS quality standards.
2. Leadership Coaching & Mentorship
  • Mentor school leaders and teachers to improve instructional leadership.
  • Deliver training sessions for school staff on pedagogy and school management.
  • Support development of strong leadership practices in schools.
3. Teaching & Learning Support
  • Model effective teaching practices and classroom management techniques.
  • Support improvement in curriculum delivery, assessment, and learner outcomes.
  • Promote adoption of best practices in education and child-centered learning.
4. Data Use & School Accountability
  • Analyze school performance data to guide interventions.
  • Support schools in using data for decision-making and improvement planning.
  • Track progress against agreed school performance indicators.
5. Safeguarding & Child Protection
  • Ensure child protection and safeguarding standards are implemented in schools.
  • Support staff training on safeguarding policies and practices.
  • Monitor compliance with child protection requirements.
6. Stakeholder Engagement
  • Build strong relationships with school leaders, teachers, and communities.
  • Engage with school governance structures to support accountability.
  • Work collaboratively with education stakeholders to strengthen school systems.
Requirements
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education
Experience
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a school leader
  • Experience in teacher training or school leadership development
  • Experience working in rural communities (strong advantage)
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong understanding of school governance in Uganda
  • Ability to analyze and use school data for improvement
  • Strong mentoring, coaching, and leadership skills
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills
  • Ability to work independently in field environments
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection
Additional Requirements
  • Valid driving license (car or motorcycle)
  • Willingness to self-drive and work in rural school locations
