ABOUT MEDIA CHALLENGE INITIATIVE (MCI)
Media Challenge Initiative (MCI) is a youth-first media organization building the next generation of journalists, storytellers, and media leaders across Uganda and Africa through a dual NGO and social enterprise model.
JOB PURPOSE
The Store Assistant will be responsible for managing inventory, equipment, and store operations to ensure accountability, efficient asset utilization, and uninterrupted organizational operations. The role supports inventory management, procurement coordination, logistics, reporting, and operational efficiency across both the NGO and social enterprise functions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. INVENTORY & ASSET MANAGEMENT
  • Maintain accurate records of stock, tools, equipment, and supplies using inventory management systems.
  • Issue, receive, and track inventory movement to staff, departments, and field teams.
  • Conduct regular stock counts, reconciliations, and inventory audits.
  • Manage equipment allocation while ensuring adequate buffer stock levels.
  • Maintain and update asset registers and inventory databases.
  • Monitor asset usage and accountability across departments.
2. STORE OPERATIONS & SAFETY COMPLIANCE
  • Oversee daily store operations and ensure efficient organization of storage facilities.
  • Maintain cleanliness, orderliness, and proper storage practices.
  • Ensure proper labeling, handling, and storage of equipment and supplies.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with workplace health and safety standards.
  • Report damaged, lost, or obsolete inventory and equipment.
3. PROCUREMENT & LOGISTICS COORDINATION
  • Support procurement processes by monitoring stock levels and initiating replenishment requests.
  • Coordinate receipt, verification, and documentation of deliveries against purchase orders and invoices.
  • Work with Procurement, Finance, and Administration teams to ensure timely acquisition of supplies.
  • Coordinate issuance of equipment and materials for staff onboarding processes.
  • Support logistics planning for organizational events, field activities, and projects.
4. REPORTING & OPERATIONAL SUPPORT
  • Prepare inventory reports, stock movement records, and asset utilization reports.
  • Maintain accurate store documentation and filing systems.
  • Collaborate with Finance, HR, Production, Programmes, and Administration teams to support operations.
  • Recommend improvements to inventory systems and store management processes.
  • Support operational planning and efficiency initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement, Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 1–2 years’ experience in storekeeping, inventory management, or logistics.
  • Experience in a media organization or familiarity with production equipment is an added advantage.
  • Strong understanding of inventory control and asset management procedures.
  • Experience using inventory management systems is desirable.
