Job Title: Manager – Forensics Investigations (MTN Uganda)
Main Purpose
Responsible for conducting complex investigations into financial fraud, cybercrime, and digital misconduct. The role applies digital forensics, data analytics, and investigative techniques to uncover evidence, support legal proceedings, and strengthen internal controls and fraud prevention systems.
Main Job Functions
1. Data Collection & Analysis
  • Collect financial records, digital data, and transaction histories
  • Use data analytics tools to detect patterns and anomalies
  • Cross-check data from multiple systems and sources
  • Conduct covert surveillance where necessary and legally permitted
2. Fraud Detection & Investigation
  • Identify fraudulent and suspicious transactions
  • Trace illicit financial flows and hidden assets
  • Use forensic tools/software to uncover irregular activities
  • Detect off-the-books accounts and system exploitation
3. Interviewing & Evidence Gathering
  • Conduct interviews with staff, management, and third parties
  • Collect and document testimonies and supporting evidence
  • Analyze interview data for inconsistencies and verification
4. Reporting & Documentation
  • Prepare detailed investigation reports and findings
  • Create charts, graphs, and visual evidence summaries
  • Provide executive reports for senior management and stakeholders
5. Legal Collaboration
  • Work with legal teams and law enforcement agencies
  • Prepare evidence for court proceedings
  • Provide expert witness testimony
  • Ensure all documentation meets legal and regulatory standards
6. Risk Assessment & Fraud Prevention
  • Conduct fraud risk assessments and vulnerability analysis
  • Recommend and implement internal control improvements
  • Support internal audit and assurance teams
  • Monitor effectiveness of fraud prevention systems
7. Internal Control Enhancement
  • Analyze fraud trends and control weaknesses
  • Recommend process and system improvements
  • Track implementation of corrective actions
8. Training & Awareness
  • Conduct fraud awareness training for staff
  • Stay updated on forensic tools, techniques, and regulations
  • Participate in professional development programs
9. Ethical Standards & Confidentiality
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and ethical conduct
  • Ensure protection of sensitive organizational data
  • Report any conflicts of interest
10. Leadership & Administration
  • Lead and support forensics investigation teams
  • Drive innovation, change, and operational stability
  • Manage team performance and workload
  • Support capacity building and staff development
Requirements
Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in:
    • Accounting
    • Statistics
    • Information Technology
    • Computer Science / Technology
    • Law
  • Professional certifications (added advantage):
    • CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner)
    • CHFI / CHFI (Digital Forensics)
    • CISM, CISA, CEH, GCFA
Experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in:
    • Fraud investigations
    • Cybercrime investigations
    • Digital forensics
    • Fraud detection and prevention
  • Experience in telecom or fintech environment (strong advantage)
  • Hands-on use of forensic tools (e.g., EnCase, FTK)
