JOB SUMMARY
The Reconciliations Officer is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records by reconciling bank accounts, mobile money wallets, payment platforms, and internal ledgers. The role is key in safeguarding company assets, preventing fraud, and ensuring compliance with financial controls and audit standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. DAILY RECONCILIATIONS
  • Perform daily reconciliations of bank accounts, mobile money platforms, and payment processors
  • Match internal records with external statements to identify variances
  • Maintain reconciliation logs and adjustment schedules
2. VARIANCE INVESTIGATION & RESOLUTION
  • Investigate and resolve reconciliation discrepancies
  • Liaise with banks, payment providers, and internal teams
  • Escalate unresolved or high-risk issues to management
3. INTERNAL CONTROLS & FRAUD PREVENTION
  • Enforce reconciliation policies and procedures
  • Ensure proper segregation of duties
  • Detect and flag suspicious or unusual transactions
4. REPORTING
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliation reports
  • Highlight risks, trends, and recurring issues
  • Provide assurance on financial accuracy
5. AUDIT & COMPLIANCE SUPPORT
  • Provide reconciliation schedules for audits
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS and Bank of Uganda standards
  • Support strengthening of audit trails and controls
6. COLLABORATION & RISK MANAGEMENT
  • Work with finance, operations, and technical teams
  • Identify root causes of discrepancies
  • Recommend process improvements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA / ACCA (part or full qualification)
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and internal controls
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • 2–4 years’ experience in reconciliation (fintech, banking, or payments)
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems and BI tools
  • Experience handling high-volume transaction reconciliations
KEY SKILLS
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Knowledge of digital payments and mobile money systems
  • Strong fraud prevention awareness
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • High integrity and confidentiality
