Outlet Sales & Produce Officer – Moroto District

Job Summary
The Outlet Sales & Produce Officer will manage daily operations at the Moroto outlet, including produce reception, sales, quality control, pricing coordination, and reporting. The role focuses on ensuring efficient handling and sale of agricultural produce while maximizing returns for farmer groups and maintaining strong buyer relationships.
The officer will work closely with the Produce Marketeer and Agents Coordinator to align stock movement, market demand, and pricing strategies within the Karamoja produce market system.
Key Responsibilities
1. Outlet Sales & Customer Management
  • Receive and record all produce delivered to the outlet from farmer groups.
  • Manage daily sales of produce to walk-in buyers, traders, and institutional clients.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and buyers.
  • Ensure produce is clean, well-organized, and properly displayed at the outlet.
  • Negotiate prices with buyers to maximize returns for farmer groups and the company.
2. Produce Handling & Quality Control
  • Receive, inspect, sort, and grade incoming produce to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Coordinate grading and bulking activities with the Produce Marketeer & Agents Coordinator.
  • Ensure proper storage of produce to minimize post-harvest losses.
  • Identify and report quality or quantity issues promptly to supervisors.
3. Market Intelligence & Pricing
  • Monitor local and outlet market prices regularly.
  • Share pricing trends and buyer demand insights with the marketing team.
  • Maintain an updated database of active and potential buyers.
  • Support informed pricing and sourcing decisions through market feedback.
4. Coordination with Marketing Team
  • Work closely with the Produce Marketeer & Agents Coordinator to balance stock levels and supply.
  • Share daily sales and stock updates via official communication channels (e.g., WhatsApp group).
  • Ensure smooth coordination between farmer groups, agents, and buyers.
5. Reporting & Documentation
  • Maintain accurate daily records of produce received, sold, and remaining stock.
  • Keep proper transaction records for audit and accountability purposes.
  • Submit monthly sales and operational reports to the supervisor.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Diploma or Degree in Agribusiness, Agriculture, or a related field.
  • At least 1 year of experience in sales, produce trading, or a related role.
  • Experience in agricultural markets, especially in Karamoja or similar regions, is an added advantage.
  • Basic numeracy and record-keeping skills.
