Finance Officer – Adjumani, Uganda (International NGO)
Job Overview
An international child-focused organisation operating across Africa, Asia, and beyond is seeking a Finance Officer to support financial management, reporting, and compliance for its Uganda field operations in Adjumani.
This role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with donor and organisational policies while supporting program implementation through effective financial monitoring.
Job Details
  • Location: Adjumani, Uganda
    (Applicants must be legally eligible to work in Uganda without visa sponsorship)
  • Contract Type: Full-time (40 hours per week) 
  • Contract Duration: 18 months (renewable based on funding & performance) 
  • Salary: UGX 4,980,869 per month (before tax) 
  • Start Date: July 2026

Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Reporting
  •  Prepare monthly financial reports and ensure accurate record keeping 
  •  Perform bank and cash reconciliations 
  •  Support month-end and year-end closing processes 
  •  Review financial transactions for accuracy and compliance 
  •  Assist in audit preparation and donor reporting 
Cash & Treasury Management
  •  Manage petty cash and monitor cash flow 
  •  Track staff and partner advances 
  •  Support banking transactions and financial controls 
Compliance & Internal Controls
  •  Ensure adherence to donor and organisational financial policies 
  •  Verify procurement and payment documentation 
  •  Maintain accurate asset and inventory records 
  •  Support compliance with tax and statutory requirements 
Program Financial Support
  •  Support budgeting and financial planning for projects 
  •  Assist program teams with financial tracking and reporting 
  •  Provide financial insights for decision-making 
Requirements
  •  Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field 
  •  Minimum 4 years of experience in accounting, grants, or budgeting 
  •  Experience working on donor-funded projects preferred 
  •  Strong knowledge of financial reporting and compliance procedures 
  •  High proficiency in MS Excel and accounting systems (e.g. Microsoft 365) 
  •  Strong attention to detail and documentation skills 
  •  Excellent written and spoken English
