EBC is seeking a qualified and experienced Treasury Accountant to support effective management of the company’s cash resources through cash forecasting, treasury operations, bank reconciliations, liquidity management, financial reporting, and compliance with treasury policies.

Job Summary

The Treasury Accountant will be responsible for managing and monitoring the organisation’s treasury activities to ensure effective cash flow management, accurate financial records, and strong internal controls.
The successful candidate will support daily cash position monitoring, bank reconciliations, treasury reporting, payment processes, and financial compliance activities.
The role requires a detail-oriented finance professional with strong knowledge of treasury operations, accounting systems, cash management, and financial controls.
The ideal candidate should have experience handling bank transactions, preparing financial reports, managing liquidity, and ensuring accurate recording of treasury-related activities.

Key Responsibilities

Cash Management and Treasury Operations
  • Monitor daily cash positions across all company bank accounts and prepare cash position reports.
  • Prepare daily cash flow updates and support short-term liquidity planning.
  • Monitor cash inflows and outflows to ensure availability of funds for business operations.
  • Maintain accurate records of all treasury transactions.
  • Ensure timely and accurate application of receipts, Credit Notes (CNs), and Debit Notes (DNs) to respective accounts.
  • Analyse bank charges to ensure correct amounts are charged to company accounts.
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy in receipting processes and minimise transaction errors.
Bank Reconciliations
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly bank reconciliations for all company bank accounts.
  • Investigate and resolve unreconciled items including outstanding deposits, payments, and bank charges.
  • Ensure all bank transactions are correctly recorded in the accounting system.
  • Follow up on aged reconciling items and ensure timely clearance.
  • Perform reconciliation of General Ledger (GL) accounts within the accounting system.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies affecting treasury balances.
Treasury Reporting
  • Prepare accurate treasury reports to support financial decision-making.
  • Generate daily cash position reports.
  • Prepare bank balance reports.
  • Prepare treasury exposure reports.
  • Provide timely financial information to management and relevant stakeholders.
Compliance and Internal Controls
  • Ensure compliance with treasury policies, finance procedures, and company guidelines.
  • Maintain proper documentation for all treasury transactions.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing required treasury records.
  • Identify control weaknesses and recommend improvements.
  • Monitor financial risks associated with cash management activities.
Accounting Support
  • Prepare treasury-related journal entries.
  • Reconcile treasury balances with the General Ledger.
  • Support month-end and year-end financial closing activities.
  • Ensure accurate recording of:
    • Bank charges
    • Interest income
    • Financing transactions
    • Treasury adjustments
  • Support wider accounting functions when required.

Required Qualifications and Skills

Must Have

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or Related Field
Applicants should possess a recognised university degree in:

Professional Accounting Qualification (Added Advantage)

Bank Reconciliation Skills
Ability to prepare, analyse, and resolve bank reconciliation issues while maintaining accurate financial records.

Experience working with accounting software, ERP systems, and financial management platforms.
