Job Summary

The Study Nurse will provide operational and clinical support for the HIV Prevention and Care Interventions for Youth in Uganda (HIP-CY) study. The role focuses on supporting study participants through screening, triage, sample collection, and accurate data documentation to ensure high-quality research outputs.
This position plays a key role in ensuring that study procedures are followed correctly, participant safety is maintained, and data collected is accurate and reliable for implementation science research aimed at improving HIV prevention and care services for young people in Uganda.

Key Responsibilities

The Study Nurse will be responsible for:
  • Provide study information and obtain informed consent or assent from participants or guardians in line with study protocols.
  • Conduct participant triage and record physical measurements according to study procedures.
  • Collect biological and other required samples following approved study protocols.
  • Ensure proper labeling, handling, and storage of collected samples.
  • Complete and verify accuracy of study case report forms (CRFs).
  • Conduct quality control checks on data collected during participant visits.
  • Monitor stock levels of study supplies and report shortages in a timely manner.
  • Support the preparation and distribution of study meeting minutes.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of study procedures and participant interactions.
  • Ensure adherence to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and study ethical guidelines.
  • Support smooth coordination of participant study visits.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the study supervisor.

Qualifications

Education
  • Diploma in Nursing.
Licensing & Certification
  • Valid nursing license (preferred).
  • GCP (Good Clinical Practice) or HSP certification is an added advantage.

Experience

Applicants should have:
  • At least 6 months to 1 year of experience in research-related work.
  • Experience in HIV care and prevention service delivery.
  • Previous exposure to clinical or community health settings is an advantage.
