Job Description

The Finance and Value Management Officer – Business and Commercial Banking will support business performance management through financial analysis, planning, forecasting, reporting, and providing actionable insights to Business Heads.
The officer will prepare financial performance reports, analyse business trends, support budgeting processes, develop forecasting models, and provide recommendations that enhance business value and profitability.
The role will also support innovation and development of Business and Commercial Banking client solutions through financial modelling, profitability analysis, and the use of modern digital reporting tools.

Key Responsibilities

Business Performance Analysis and Reporting
  • Support high standards of business partnership through effective financial analysis and performance monitoring.
  • Prepare periodic analyses of Business and Commercial Banking (BCB) performance.
  • Identify business performance gaps and provide recommendations to Business Heads.
  • Prepare monthly Segment, Sector, and Product reports for submission to Group and Country BCB leadership.
  • Provide timely and relevant internal and external insights to support business decision-making.
Financial Planning and Forecasting
  • Support business planning and forecasting processes through accurate financial analysis.
  • Develop financial models to support balance sheet and income statement projections.
  • Prepare forecasting tools to improve financial planning accuracy.
  • Analyse financial trends and provide insights that support business growth strategies.
Financial Modelling and Value Management
  • Develop financial models to evaluate business opportunities, product profitability, and return on investment (ROI).
  • Support innovation and development of BCB client solutions through detailed financial analysis.
  • Analyse product performance and recommend opportunities for improving value creation.
  • Support decision-making through profitability assessments and financial simulations.
Budget Management and Variance Analysis
  • Investigate variances between actual performance and budgets.
  • Provide explanations for financial deviations and recommend corrective actions.
  • Monitor financial performance against agreed targets.
  • Support management in improving cost efficiency and revenue performance.
Business Ecosystem Reporting
  • Drive ecosystem reporting by highlighting relationships between different sectors and product houses within Business and Commercial Banking.
  • Identify linkages between BCB, Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB), and Personal and Private Banking (PPB).
  • Provide insights that improve collaboration and business performance across banking segments.
Digital Reporting and Analytics
  • Support development and implementation of future-fit reporting solutions.
  • Use digital analytics tools to improve financial reporting and decision-making.
  • Apply tools such as:
    • Power BI
    • SAP Analytics Cloud
    • SQL
    • Advanced spreadsheet applications
  • Improve reporting efficiency through automation and data-driven analysis.

Qualifications and Requirements

Academic Qualifications
Applicants should have:
  • Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) in:
    • Accounting
    • Finance
OR
  • A relevant Business Degree from a recognised institution.
Additional advantage:
  • Partial or full qualification in:
    • ACCA
    • CPA
    • CIMA
Professional Experience
Candidates should have:
  • 2 – 3 years’ experience in finance or business analysis.
  • Experience working in a busy commercial environment is preferred.
