Job Description – Farm Production Officer | Kitara Agribusiness | Gulu District, Northern Uganda
Kitara Agribusiness is seeking a motivated and competent Farm Production Officer to oversee poultry production operations and provide technical support in fruit and vegetable farming. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing daily farm activities, supervising farm workers, and supporting agricultural training initiatives for farmers, youth, and women within the community.
This role offers an opportunity to contribute to sustainable agriculture, rural development, and farmer capacity building in Northern Uganda.
Key Responsibilities
Poultry Farm Management
  • Lead the day-to-day management of poultry production activities
  • Monitor poultry health, feeding, housing, and production performance
  • Implement best practices in poultry husbandry and biosecurity
  • Maintain accurate poultry production records and reports
Crop Production Support
  • Provide technical guidance on fruit and vegetable production
  • Support planning, planting, crop maintenance, and harvesting activities
  • Promote good agricultural practices to improve productivity and quality
Farm Supervision
  • Supervise farm assistants and casual workers
  • Ensure farm operations are carried out efficiently and according to established standards
  • Monitor use of farm inputs, tools, and resources
Farmer Training & Community Engagement
  • Support practical agricultural training programs for farmers, youth, and women
  • Demonstrate modern farming techniques and sustainable agricultural practices
  • Participate in community outreach and farmer capacity-building activities
Reporting & Administration
  • Maintain farm records and production data
  • Provide regular updates on farm performance and operational activities
  • Assist in planning and implementation of farm development activities
Minimum Requirements
  • Certificate in Agriculture or a related field
  • 1–2 years of practical experience in poultry management and production
  • Basic knowledge of fruit and vegetable production
  • Age between 18 and 30 years
  • Must be from the Acholi Sub-region
  • Willingness to live and work in a rural village setting
