Environmental Assistant Jobs in Uganda 2026 – PALM Corps (URRI Programme)

• Support planning and implementation of environmental conservation activities such as tree planting, reforestation, and landscape restoration.
• Work with community structures including Refugee Welfare Councils and Environmental Protection Committees.
• Conduct environmental awareness and sensitization sessions on waste management, energy conservation, and climate change adaptation.
• Monitor and report on environmental indicators and field activity progress.
• Assist in establishing and managing woodlots, tree nurseries, and energy-saving technologies (e.g., fuel-efficient stoves).
• Support environmental assessments and ensure compliance with URRI and government environmental standards.
• Collect data, document activities, and report on environmental outcomes and success stories.
• Liaise with district environment officers, NGOs, and UN partners for coordinated interventions.
• Promote inclusion of both refugee and host communities in environmental programs.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

• Participate in monitoring and evaluation of community-based environmental interventions.
• Collect and report data on project outcomes and community participation.
• Prepare periodic reports, success stories, and lessons learned for dissemination.

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Forestry, Natural Resource Management, or a related field.
• 1–2 years of experience in community-based environmental or livelihood programs (refugee or humanitarian context preferred).
• Knowledge of Ugandan environmental laws and resilience-building approaches.
• Strong commitment to environmental sustainability and community development.
• Good understanding of refugee and host community dynamics.
• Strong communication, facilitation, and teamwork skills.
• Basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Email).
• Fluency in English and local languages used in settlement areas is an advantage.
• A valid riding permit is mandatory.
