The bank is seeking a qualified and motivated professional to join its team as an Enterprise Banker – Soroti. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving business growth, managing enterprise banking relationships, acquiring new customers, delivering excellent customer service, and ensuring compliance with banking standards.

Job Summary

The Enterprise Banker – Soroti will drive business performance by acquiring new customers, managing existing business banking clients, increasing customer value, and providing suitable financial solutions.
The role involves developing strong customer relationships, promoting banking products, supporting loan applications, ensuring excellent customer experience, and maintaining compliance with Absa’s operational and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. Business Banking Sales and Customer Growth (50%)
  • Open and manage Enterprise Banking customer accounts in line with Absa policies and procedures.
  • Promote banking products and services through customer engagements and campaigns.
  • Meet and exceed assigned sales targets and business development objectives.
  • Identify new business opportunities among existing and potential customers.
  • Grow customer portfolios by introducing suitable financial products and solutions.
  • Generate sales leads through customer visits, referrals, telephone engagement, and networking.
  • Support business customers with credit applications in line with SME lending guidelines.
  • Conduct customer meetings with clear objectives and planned outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate sales performance records and reports.
  • Build strong relationships with branch teams to support customer referrals.
  • Assist customers with account opening documentation and ensure timely processing.
  • Conduct financial analysis and review customer statements when supporting loan applications.
  • Follow up with customers after account opening and provide ongoing relationship support.

2. Customer Service Delivery (20%)

  • Handle customer enquiries, complaints, and service requests professionally.
  • Resolve account opening, loan, and card-related issues within agreed timelines.
  • Escalate unresolved customer concerns to the Branch Manager.
  • Work closely with internal departments to ensure quick resolution of customer issues.
  • Guide customers on suitable banking channels and services.
  • Follow up with customers regarding collection of cards, cheque books, and other banking products.
  • Support customer loan drawdowns after approval.
  • Assist customers during busy branch periods by managing queues and directing enquiries.
  • Maintain availability of customer information materials and banking resources.

3. Branch Support Responsibilities (10%)

  • Provide business advice and support to banking customers when required.
  • Support branch operations alongside the Branch Manager and Branch Operations Manager.
  • Assist with opening and closing cashier tills.
  • Authorize eligible cashier transactions when assigned.
  • Support cash management activities within branch guidelines.
  • Conduct assigned branch checks and operational support activities.

4. Compliance, Risk Management and Operational Excellence (20%)

  • Ensure accuracy of customer account opening documents, loan applications, and banking forms.
  • Maintain high operational standards to support successful audits.
  • Ensure customer accounts comply with Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements.
  • Follow anti-money laundering (AML) regulations and banking compliance procedures.
  • Escalate compliance issues and unresolved documentation requirements.
  • Conduct assigned compliance checks and reviews.
  • Ensure all activities comply with Absa policies, regulatory requirements, and risk management frameworks.

Required Qualifications

Education Requirements
Applicants should have:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Sales and Trading, Finance, Banking, or a related field.
  • Additional professional qualifications or postgraduate studies in a related field are an added advantage.

Experience Requirements

Candidates should have:
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in banking, sales, customer relationship management, or a similar business environment.
  • Experience working with business banking customers is highly desirable.
  • Experience in sales, financial products, account management, or SME banking will be an added advantage.
