Job Purpose
The Personal Banking Officer will be responsible for growing and managing personal banking relationships, driving sales of bank products, ensuring compliance with credit and KYC/AML policies, and supporting portfolio growth and customer retention.

Key Responsibilities (Maximum 10)
1. Client Relationship Management
  • Create and manage client relationships and accounts to reduce attrition
  • Maintain strong engagement with personal banking customers
2. Business Development & Sales
  • Source new personal banking business opportunities in coordination with the sales team
  • Conduct sales calls and gather market intelligence
3. Product Cross-Selling
  • Cross-sell bank products including assets, liabilities, and electronic banking services
  • Promote uptake of bank products to existing and potential clients
4. Loan Origination & Credit Processing
  • Initiate personal loan applications
  • Ensure proper underwriting practices and credit assessment
5. Credit Risk & KYC/AML Compliance
  • Adhere strictly to KYC and AML policies and procedures
  • Conduct risk profiling of potential clients
6. Portfolio Management
  • Manage personal banking portfolios
  • Monitor daily branch budget performance for assigned accounts
7. Reporting & Documentation
  • Prepare and submit timely and accurate reports
  • Maintain proper records for all customer accounts and transactions
8. Account Monitoring
  • Monitor overdrawn, inactive, dormant, and zero-balance accounts
  • Initiate appropriate action and reporting on such accounts
9. Customer Service & Complaint Resolution
  • Handle and resolve customer complaints (verbal and written)
  • Maintain and update the complaints register
  • Escalate issues where necessary
10. Compliance & Additional Duties
  • Ensure compliance with banking policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Perform any other duties assigned from time to time

Knowledge, Experience & Personal Competencies
Applicants should have:
  • A Bachelor’s degree or postgraduate qualification in Business, Finance, or related field
  • Strong understanding of banking products, policies, and procedures
  • Knowledge of account opening, documentation, and customer onboarding
  • Credit analysis skills, including financial statement interpretation
  • Understanding of risk management and credit scoring systems
  • Knowledge of personal lending and underwriting processes
  • Awareness of competitor banking products and services
  • Continuous learning mindset through training and e-learning
