Position Overview

Maersk is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Landside Transport Coordinator to support its logistics operations in Kampala.
This role is responsible for ensuring efficient execution of inland transport activities, including container tracking, truck coordination, dispatch management, and service provider performance monitoring.
The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring timely deliveries, reducing operational delays, improving visibility across container movements, and maintaining high service reliability.

Key Responsibilities

1. Container Visibility & Tracking
  • Monitor and track empty container movements from discharge to return
  • Provide daily updates on container location and availability
  • Manage dashboards for container ageing, returns, and export readiness
  • Ensure accurate visibility of containers across logistics systems
2. Transport Coordination & Dispatch
  • Identify and allocate available trucks for transport operations
  • Manage daily dispatch planning and execution
  • Coordinate container movement schedules with transport providers
  • Ensure smooth and timely delivery of cargo and containers
3. Operations Communication
  • Provide regular updates to operations, planning, and customer service teams
  • Coordinate with transport vendors and logistics partners
  • Communicate delays, exceptions, and operational changes in real time
  • Support rapid resolution of transport-related issues
4. Performance Management
  • Monitor transport service provider performance and compliance
  • Ensure adherence to On-Time In-Full (OTIF) delivery standards
  • Review weekly and monthly transport demand forecasts
  • Support continuous improvement of logistics efficiency
5. Reporting & Systems Management
  • Maintain accurate updates in logistics and transport systems
  • Generate operational reports and performance summaries
  • Support exception management and corrective actions
  • Ensure compliance with internal SOPs and global standards

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transportation, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 2–3 years of experience in freight forwarding, logistics operations, or transport coordination
  • Experience in container handling, inland logistics, or shipping operations is an advantage
  • Strong understanding of supply chain and transport processes
