About National Anti-Doping Organisation – Uganda (NADO-U)

The National Anti-Doping Organisation – Uganda (NADO-U) is an independent body established under the National Sports Act, 2023, as amended. NADO-U is mandated to promote clean sport, protect athletes, and uphold the integrity of sport in Uganda.

NADO-U invites applications from suitably qualified Ugandan citizens for the position of Education Officer.

Job Purpose

The Education Officer will be responsible for developing, coordinating, delivering, monitoring, and evaluating evidence-based clean sport education and awareness programmes.

The successful candidate will help ensure that NADO-U's education initiatives are aligned with the World Anti-Doping Code and the International Standard for Education, while supporting athletes, educators, sports federations, and other stakeholders in promoting a strong clean sport culture.

Key Responsibilities

Education Programme Planning and Budgeting
 
  • Prepare annual education work plans and budgets in line with NADO-U's strategic priorities.
  • Prioritise education resources and activities in accordance with the International Standard for Education.
  • Develop programmes that address the education and awareness needs of athletes and other sports stakeholders.
  • Monitor implementation of education activities against approved work plans and budgets.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the reach and effectiveness of clean sport education programmes.

Anti-Doping Learning Management Systems
 
  • Manage and maintain NADO-U's anti-doping learning management systems.
  • Support the development and delivery of digital learning resources for athletes, coaches, educators, and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor participation and engagement with online education programmes.
  • Ensure educational content remains relevant, accurate, and accessible to target audiences.

Educator Team and Network Management
 
  • Provide leadership and coordination to the NADO-U educator team and educator network.
  • Coordinate the training and development of educators.
  • Support the deployment of educators to education and awareness activities.
  • Coordinate educator networking and knowledge-sharing activities.
  • Establish quality standards and support continuous improvement among educators.
  • Monitor educator performance and the quality of education activities delivered.

Stakeholder Engagement and Partnerships
 
  • Work closely with National Sports Federations to coordinate anti-doping education activities.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with sports organisations and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Develop partnerships that support the delivery of clean sport education programmes.
  • Engage with national and international stakeholders to exchange knowledge, ideas, and good practices.
  • Support collaborative initiatives aimed at strengthening anti-doping education in Uganda.

Media, Communication and Awareness
 
  • Coordinate with the NADO-U media team on anti-doping education and awareness projects.
  • Support the planning of publicity and awareness campaigns.
  • Ensure education programmes and clean sport initiatives receive appropriate visibility.
  • Contribute to the development of communication materials and public awareness content.
  • Promote positive messages about clean sport, ethical behaviour, athlete rights, and fair play.

Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting
 
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of education and awareness programmes.
  • Collect and analyse relevant programme data and participant feedback.
  • Prepare education activity reports and performance updates.
  • Track programme outcomes against established objectives and indicators.
  • Recommend improvements based on monitoring and evaluation findings.

Minimum Qualification

Applicants should possess an Honours Bachelor's Degree in one of the following fields from a recognised institution:
 
  • Education, particularly Sports or Physical Education
  • Sports Science
  • Public Health
  • Curriculum Development

Additional Experience

Practical experience in anti-doping programmes is an added advantage.

Experience as an athlete is also an added advantage.

Additional experience in education programme management, sports administration, training, public awareness, stakeholder engagement, or monitoring and evaluation will be beneficial.

Working Environment

The Education Officer will be based in Kampala and will work closely with educators, athletes, National Sports Federations, sports organisations, media teams, and other national and international stakeholders.

The role may involve travel to sporting events, training venues, education programmes, workshops, seminars, and other activities designed to promote clean sport across Uganda.
