Britam Uganda – Business Development Officer Job Opportunity

Job Purpose
The Business Development Officer will support the Business Development Manager in driving business growth, expanding market share, and strengthening strategic distribution channels across bancassurance and broker networks.
The role focuses on:
  • Training delivery
  • Financial Advisor (FA) recruitment and activation
  • Retail product rollout
  • Performance enablement
Key Responsibilities
1. Sales & Business Growth
  • Support execution of business development strategies
  • Drive retail product penetration
  • Convert pipeline into issued business
  • Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual targets
2. Training & Capacity Building
  • Deliver structured training for banks, brokers, and FAs
  • Facilitate product, sales, and compliance training
  • Develop training materials and track effectiveness
3. FA Recruitment & Activation
  • Recruit and onboard bank-based Financial Advisors (FAs)
  • Support licensing and productivity improvement
  • Drive activity and conversion performance
4. Retail Product Deployment
  • Roll out retail insurance solutions across channels
  • Drive motor, credit life, and group life sales
  • Support upselling and cross-selling initiatives
5. Incentives & Performance
  • Implement incentive frameworks
  • Track engagement and return on investment (ROI)
  • Monitor performance of distribution channels
Key Performance Measures
  • Training rollout across key banks and brokers completed
  • FA recruitment pipeline established
  • Retail product presence in priority branches
  • Channel productivity (per branch / per FA)
  • Active FA base in bancassurance channel
  • Consistent pipeline reporting
  • Retail Gross Written Premium (GWP) growth
  • Credit life penetration growth
  • Fully operational training and activation system
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field
  • COP Certification is an added advantage
  • Progress toward IIU/CII qualifications
  • 2–5 years’ experience in insurance, bancassurance, or brokerage
